The first paying passengers will ride on Nottingham's nine-mile section of track on March 9, almost four months after services were due to begin. 09/03/2004 It's four months late and has already suffered a derailment - but a city's new 200 million tram system was Tuesday March 8, 2004 carrying the first paying passengers. Residents in Nottingham were boarding carriages along a nine mile section of track between Hucknall and the city centre after an official launch for dignitaries yesterday
