Welsh actor Anthony Hopkins steps into a replica of Bluebird to mark the launch of a BBC television drama about the death of speed king Donald Campbell. On location at Coniston Water in Cumbria, Hopkins takes the leading role as Donald Campbell in Across The Lake which will be screened later in the year (1988). DOnald Campbell's body wasn't recovered after Bluebird crashed at more than 300mph in an attempt to break his own world record on the same lake on January 4th 1967, though his teddy bear mascot Mr Whoppit (a replica is shown here) was found floating on the surface the next day
