Soccer - Corinthians Casuals

Corinthians Casuals Club Badge. The famous Corinthians Casuals Football Club have now another achievement to their credit, this time in the realm of heraldry. They are the first football club in England ever to be granted Armorial Bearings by the Kings of Arms. The grant follows the commemoration by both the Corinthians and the Casuals of the 75th anniversary of the formation of these two famous amateur clubs, united 20 years ago (1939). The shield of the coat of arms depicts a golden lion 'passant guardant in Bend' upon a green field. The Lion is set between two diagonal white lines in allusion to the touchlines of a football pitch and the beast might fancifull be described as 'A Lion at play'. In 'Dexter' Chief' is a 'Canton' of the arms of St George (for England) with a football in it's natural colours superimposed upon the cross. This emphasises the challenge which the formation of the Corinthians and the Casuals Football Club offered to Scottish supremacy at association in the 19th century. The Motto 'E Duobus Unum (from two, one) is a happy reminder of the union of the two clubs
