Queen Royal National Lifeboat Institution
Queen Elizabeth II the Duke of Kent (left) and the Duke of Edinburgh (right) with members of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, during the opening of the organisation's new lifeboat crew training centre in Poole, Dorset. While at the RNLI Lifeboat College, the Queen was given a demonstration of a lifeboat self-righting mechanism. The display, in the college's 25-metre wave tank, involved a four-man crew escaping after a lifeboat capsizes, and then setting off the inflatable device, which turned the boat upright again.
Queen Elizabeth II visits temple
Britain's Queen Elizabeth II wearing a garland she received at the Gurdware Sri Singh Sabha Temple in Hounslow, West London, on her arrival. Accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, she will view an exhibition at the Hounslow temple in west London to mark the 400th anniversary of Sikh scriptures.
