Weather - Floods Protest - Pickering
Residents of Pickering in North Yorkshire sat down on living room furniture they moved into the river, which runs through the town, to recreate the scenes they faced in the devastating floods of last year. Topsy Clinch (seated left), 91, who was flooded out of her home, was one of those there to draw attention to the lack of flood defences in the town, along with Gordon Clitheroe and Kath Grayston. The residents claim the Government pulled the plug on funding for flood defences for the town after the Environment Agency spent 750, 000 five years ago designing a viable scheme.
