Records Soccer/Rattin sent off
File dated 23.7.66 of former Argentine captain, Antonio Rattin (No 10), being sent off by the German referee officiating at Wembley, during their match against England in the World Cup quarter-final. Papers released today (Tuesday) under the 30-year rule at the Public Record Office in Kew show how the Foreign Office was sometimes left to pick up the pieces on the England team's road to Wembley glory. The files show how England's victory over the Argentinians raised feelings among the South Americans close to a point where they could have damaged relations between the two countries. **AVAILABLE IN B/W ONLY** See PA Story RECORDS Soccer.
