MAHATMA GANDHI 1930: Gandhi greets supporters shortly before his arrest in Bombay for causing civil disturbances. Gandhi (1869-1948) played a major part in the struggle for Home Rule for India and was frequently imprisoned for acts of Civil Disobedience against the Raj.
