Glasgow Central Station safety
Signal lights are all turned to red and lines stand empty at Glasgow Central station following Railtrack's announcement that it has closed a section of the West Coast main line. The cause of the closure was blamed on track maintenance in the wake of the Hatfield crash. * 30/6/03: Network Rail has announced that it will cost 54 billion to run the railways over the next 10 years. The infrastructure company, which has replaced Railtrack, also confirmed that 'around 2, 000' of its staff would be losing their jobs over the next three years.

Dublin Bus Talks
Negotiations between Union officials and the Department of Transport at the LRC were adjourned after negotiations lasting nearly four hours. The talks are on the possibility of opening up the Dublin Bus market to private operators.
