1908 London Olympic Games - Marathon - Dorando Pietri - The White City Stadium
Italian Dorando Pietri about to break the tape to win the 1908 London Olympic Marathon. Pietri was later disqualified for having been assisted by his manager whilst in a state of collapse. More recently the man on the right assisting Dorando Pietri is believed to be the British author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, this however is not a proven fact.

John Cooper (MCAAA/Birchfield Harriers) clears the last hurdle to win the 440 yards hurdles at the Amateur Athletic Association (AAA) championships at the White City Stadium, London. His time of 51.1 seconds was a record.
