Queen Mother at Hostpital
Britain's Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, leaves the King Edward VII Hospital in central London, to return to Clarence House ahead of the celebrations to mark her101st birthday. * She was admitted to the clinic Wednesday after she complained of extreme tiredness during the recent heatwave. After a diagnosis that she was suffering from anaemia, doctors administered a blood transfusion. Security was tight for the Queen Mother's 101st birthday celebrations today in the wake of the Ealing bomb. Thursday night's car bomb explosion at Ealing, west London, heightened fears that dissident Irish terrorists may try to disrupt the royal birthday celebrations.

The Queen Mother was due to take a trip down memory lane today as she opened a memorial garden. The 100-year-old royal was due to visit Tower Hamlets, scene of many wartime visits with her husband, King George. During the public engagement, she was due to unveil a memorial garden on the Barkantine Estate, Isle of Dogs, in honour of the people who have lived and worked there.
