Royalty - Queen Mother - Women's Voluntary Service - 1953
The Queen Mother is joined by members of the Women's Voluntary Service, gathered round a vat of soup being prepared for delivery, during the Second World War. The Queen Mother, president of the WRVS as it is now known, will take delivery of a lunch of roast beef and veg at her home Clarence House as part of the second annual Meals-on-Wheels Day, highlighting the work of the Meals-on-Wheels service, supplying meals to the housebound and vulnerable.
