Royal Variety - Queen
Britain's Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh arrive for the Royal Variety Performance, at the Dominion Theatre in London. Headlining the performance is Sir Elton John, making his first appearance at the show for almost 30 years. * Pop sensation Jennifer Lopez has also jetted in from America specially for the gala. 07/12/2001 The Queen's visit to Australia and New Zealand, postponed after the September 11 terrorist outrage in the US, has been rescheduled for early next year, Buckingham Palace announced. Accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, the Queen will first visit Jamaica from February 18 to 20, her first overseas trip during the royal Golden Jubilee year, marking 50 years on the throne. From the Caribbean, the royals will fly to New Zealand, where they will visit Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland, from February 22 to 27. They will then travel to Australia on February 27 and stay until March 3, and the Queen will open the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) at Coolum on March 2.
