Queen - Coronation Anniversary

Three generations of the British Royal family - Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, their oldest son, the Prince of Wales, and his oldest son, Prince William - pose for a photograph, at Clarence House in London. * ... before a dinner to mark the 50th anniversary of her Coronation. The Prince of Wales was hosting the meal at his new residence, formerly the London home of the 101-year-old Queen Mother, after a day of celebration which included a service at Westminster Abbey and a children's tea party in the gardens of Buckingham Palace. Queen Royal National Lifeboat Institution

Queen Elizabeth II the Duke of Kent (left) and the Duke of Edinburgh (right) with members of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, during the opening of the organisation's new lifeboat crew training centre in Poole, Dorset. While at the RNLI Lifeboat College, the Queen was given a demonstration of a lifeboat self-righting mechanism. The display, in the college's 25-metre wave tank, involved a four-man crew escaping after a lifeboat capsizes, and then setting off the inflatable device, which turned the boat upright again.

Royalty - Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee

The Bishop of London, the Rt Rev Gerald Ellison, in the new cope and mitre he will use for the first time at the Silver Jubilee service to be attended by the Queen in St Paul's Cathedral. With him is the designer, Beryl Dean, who made the cope with her students at the Stenhope Adult Education Institute in London. They have donated it to the City of London for the Bishop's use. The design includes St Paul's cathedral, 73 churches of the London Diocese, three Royal Peculiars and one house - no.42 Queen's Square, where the classes were held. The embroidery, on a fine cream coloured woollen background, is in synthetic gold thread and silk, on silk organza, and required 6, 015 hours work shared among 36 workers. The mitre and morse (cope fastening) are worked on cloth of gold. The mitre depicts, on the front, Westminster Abbey, and on the back, a ship symbolising the Christian Church.
