Phillips, not realizing the potential of the soon to be pop star, released him in 1969, just prior to him teaming up with lyricist Bernie Taupin. Singer Elton John during the dress rehearsal for the Royal Gala Performance in aid of the Prince's Trust at the London Palladium. 30/12/97 receives a Knighthood in the New Year's Honours list.

Television personality, Russell Harty, who is to make his West End stage debut in the hit musical, "Side by Side by Sondheim" in place of Ned Sherrin at Wyndham's Theatre this evening, taps out a tune on the piano when he joined his co-stars at the theatre this afternoon.
