Ernie Wise launches mobile phone
Comedian Ernie Wise and friends launching the Racal-Vodafone computer controlled cellular radio telephone service at St. Katharine's Dock, London. 10/11/04: Vodafone the world's largest mobile phone network, launched its third-generation services in 13 countries including the UK. The new 3G technology allows Vodafone users to see and hear one another when making a call, download full-length music tracks and 3D games, and watch highlights of Premiership football matches.
The Beatles film at Marylebone Station
In nonchalant pose, three of the Beatles make a telephone call during their film in London. Left to right - John Lennon, Ringo Starr and George Harrison. For the occasion London's Marylebone Station became Liverpool's Lime Street Station. Hordes of fans were loosed on the Beatles for the purposes of the film.
