18/09/1970 - ON THIS DAY IN 1970: Jimi Hendrix dies on this day in 1970. Pictured at the recent Isle of Wight music festival is pop singer Jimi Hendrix who was taken dead to St. Mary Abbot's Hospital, Kensington, London. German-born artist Monika Danneman, a former girlfriend of Hendrix, has been found dead in a fume-filled car near her home, police said.

Transport - Steam Locomotives - Pendennis Castle - Banbury - 1967
Many people visited Banbury Station in Oxfordshire to see a fine lady steam out on her journey to Birkenhead, Cheshire. She is the 40 year old 'Pendennis Castle', 125-ton veteran of the steam railway carrying the name 'The Zulu' recalling the used for scheduled trains over the Great Western route at the start of the century.
