London Tram : 1952

1952: One of the last London trams in Westminster Bridge Road. * 29/05/02 Trams are to return to central London for the first time in 50 years in a 500 million package aimed at cutting congestion, it was announced. London Mayor Ken Livingstone has given the go-ahead for a 300 million northsouth Cross River link and a 200 million tramway through west London. The West London tram, due to be completed by 2009, is set to run from Uxbridge to Shepherds Bush via Acton, Ealing, Hanwell and Southall town centres. The Cross River tram, earmarked for completion by 2011, will link Camden and Kings Cross, via Euston and Waterloo, to Peckham and Brixton in the south.

Re-modelled Wembley Stadium

A general view of the new completed Wembley Stadium in the North West London suburbs the only football ground in the world to accomodate 100, 000 spectators under cover. It will herald the last football game ever to played at the famous Wembley Stadium, with a match held between England and Germany * The main feature is the new roof containing 288, 000 square feet of aluminium with its 36 feet deep inner apron of translucent glass-fibre. The Press box hung high up on the North side of the new roof will accomodate 250 correspondents Television and radio correspondents have their quarters on the South side.
