HEALTH AND BEAUTY 1947: The Women's League of Health and Beauty opened its autumn season with a mass reunion class at the New Hall of the RHS in London. Some 900 members of the League from all over the country were there to participate in the exercise.

Eighteen-year-old model Twiggy (real name Lesley Hornby) wearing black pantaloons with royal blue boots and a short fur jacket at Heathrow Airport, London, where she left for Tokyo, Japan, to model and promote clothes made by her own fashion firm. Fourteen thousand seats are reported to have been sold for her final Tokyo fashion show.
