Buildings and Landmarks - Corfe Castle - Dorset - 1959
The ruins of Corfe Castle on the hill overlooking Corfe village. In its day, Corfe castle was regarded as militarily impregnable. Even after it surrendered to Parliamentary forces in 1646, it was found impossible to carry out the decree for its total demolition after a three-year stand. Now the castle is a tourist attraction, standing above the Dorset village of Corfe on the Isle of Purbeck.
