Beecham bust for RPO Chairman
Mr John Bimson, 29 year old chairman of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and co-principal horn player, is presented with a bust of the orchestra's founder Sir Thomas Beecham, sculpted by Miss Muriel Liddle shortly before Beecham's death in 1961. The presentation took place on the Martini Terrace in London's Haymarket during the RPO's annual news conference. Miss Liddle (right), a well-known harpist and music teacher in the Midlands, travelled from her home in Birmingham for the occasion.
