Mr Tim Durrant, aged 68, who won a bet of �500.00 with Ladbrokes, when he completed the Grand National course on Saturday on "Highlander" after falling and remounting at Beechers Brook, hands over the cheque to Mr Fred Winter for the "Injured National Hunt Jockeys Fund". Standing behind is Mr Stein (no first name known) of Ladbrokes who paid out the money to Mr Durrant.

Horse Racing - Lester Piggott - Isleham Maiden Stakes - Newmarket

Boy jockey LESTER PIGGOTT (right), whose licence has just been restored, walks out with D. FORTE at Newmarket to-day (Wednesday) for his first - and winning - ride since his suspension on last June. Piggott rode Mr. C.W.Rawlins' joint favourite Cardington King to victory in the Isleham Maiden stakes. Forte rode Westerlands Pearl, but was unplaced. Piggott's licence was withdrawn at the Royal Ascot meeting for alleged 'dangerous and erratic riding'.
