The Jolly Sailor, Orford, Suffolk : 1970
ORFORD, SUFFOLK 1970: For years the oldest inhabitants of the fishing village of Orford, Suffolk, have gathered at the Jolly Sailor public house for beer, dominoes, a smoke and conversation. They've played like this since anyone can remember, finding a replacement when one of them dies.

A Halo surrounds the Angel of the North near Gateshead during the eclipse as watchers on the ground enjoyed a spectacular experience as the partial eclipse took form. *14/10/03: The company which built the statue was put into administration threatening scores of job losses. Administrators called in by Hartlepool Fabrication said 38 redundancies would be made immediately, but there were hopes of finding a new buyer to save the remaining 55 jobs. Derek Simpson, general secretary of Amicus, said the statue, sited off the A1 near Gateshead, would now become a monument to the "wilful destruction" of British manufacturing.
Morris Minors : 1950
1950: Lined in solemn, soldier-like files on the jetty of the Samuel Willams wharf of the London docks are these Morris Minor cars, destined for Canada and sales in the precious dollar. Some 500 in total, they are part of a 1 million dollar consignment from the Nuffield Organisation of Cowley, Oxford.
