Arkle the Horse
The Duchess of Westminster's Irish trained horse Arkle, ridden by P. Taaffe, leading Mr W.H. Gollings Mill House, with Mr. G W Robinson up (seen behind), over the last jump at the Cheltenham Gold Cup. Arkle went on to win in record time. * Arkle beat the previous years winner Mill House by 5 lengths. Pas Seul finished third of the four runners.
Lester Piggott rides Derby winner
