Heatwave in the UK
People at Brighton beach enjoy the end of the weekend near to Brighton Pier. 20/03/04: According to research, South West England is the most popular destination for Britons taking a holiday, but northern city dwellers prefer Wales and Londoners escape to the South Coast. A report by teletextholidaysshowed that the pleasures of Blackpool, Brighton and Bournemouth were proving increasingly popular with Britons. 29/06/2004: Britons are bashful about stripping off on UK beaches, a survey revealed Tuesday June 29, 2004. When it comes to baring all, 52% of respondents said they would not feel confident stripping down to their swimsuits on a beach in the UK, although they would abroad. The deluge which brought flash flooding and dangerous levels of surface water on roads was in stark contrast to the baking 38.1C (100.6F) enjoyed in Gravesend, Kent, on this day last year during a record a breaking spell of dry, sunny weather.
