18/09/1970 - ON THIS DAY IN 1970: Jimi Hendrix dies on this day in 1970. Pictured at the recent Isle of Wight music festival is pop singer Jimi Hendrix who was taken dead to St. Mary Abbot's Hospital, Kensington, London. German-born artist Monika Danneman, a former girlfriend of Hendrix, has been found dead in a fume-filled car near her home, police said.
Theatre - "Elvis" Musical - Shakin' Stevens - Astoria Theatre, London
Welsh rock singer Shakin' Stevens at the Astoria Theatre in Charing Cross Road, London, during rehearsals for a new musical entitled "Elvis". The show will cover the life and career of the King of Rock 'n' Roll, who died in August, aged 42. Shakin' Stevens will be playing Elvis during his 20s and will be one of three versions of the former singing star.
Music - Deep Purple - Royal Albert Hall
Deep Purple's rehearsal for 'Concerto for Group and Orchestra', composed by the group's organist, Jon Lord. The piece will be performed by the group for the time, together with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall in aid of Task Force.
