Princess Elizabeth - Steam Train

The 'Princess Elizabeth' steam train leaving from Euston station, London, returning to Merseyside, during a trip down south. The 'Princess Elizabeth' locomotive became part of the service that ran between London to Liverpool in the 1930's. *... and for many years was based at Edge Hill in Liverpool depot in Liverpool. The train also had the distinction of holding the 'Merseyside Express' headboard on numerous occasions.

And a third would even consider moving the capital out of London to help reduce its overdominance and to relieve congestion in Britain's largest city, according to a poll for the political monthly Prospect magazine. In a YouGov poll of 2, 037 people from all parts of Great Britain, 76% either agreed strongly (34%) or tended to agree (42%) that London was too dominant.

Heatwave in the UK

People at Brighton beach enjoy the end of the weekend near to Brighton Pier. 20/03/04: According to research, South West England is the most popular destination for Britons taking a holiday, but northern city dwellers prefer Wales and Londoners escape to the South Coast. A report by teletextholidaysshowed that the pleasures of Blackpool, Brighton and Bournemouth were proving increasingly popular with Britons. 29/06/2004: Britons are bashful about stripping off on UK beaches, a survey revealed Tuesday June 29, 2004. When it comes to baring all, 52% of respondents said they would not feel confident stripping down to their swimsuits on a beach in the UK, although they would abroad. Only 22%. 10/08/2004 Torrential rain and storms continued to bring misery to much of Britain Tuesday August 10, 2004, a year to the day after temperatures reached a record breaking high amid glorious sunshine. The deluge which brought flash flooding and dangerous levels of surface water on roads was in stark contrast to the baking 38.1C (100.6F) enjoyed in Gravesend, Kent, on this day last year during a record a breaking spell of dry, sunny weather.
