Sebastian Coe (no.2) making it a comfortable win in the Men's 800 metres of the Peageot Talbot Games at Crystal Palace in 1 min 46.13 seconds. He won by some three yards from fellow Britons Steve Heard (11) and Steve Crabb (3), battling through the quality international field for the runners-up spot.

1908 London Olympic Games - Marathon - Dorando Pietri - The White City Stadium
Italian Dorando Pietri about to break the tape to win the 1908 London Olympic Marathon. Pietri was later disqualified for having been assisted by his manager whilst in a state of collapse. More recently the man on the right assisting Dorando Pietri is believed to be the British author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, this however is not a proven fact.
