A keen amateur painter, holidaymaker Rowena Ryle of Cambridge sketches the old mill at Cley-next-the-Sea, near Blakeney Point on the north coast of Norfolk. Although the mill stands on the edge of the salt marshes about a mile from the sea, it is sometimes surrounded by seawater during storms. It has been converted into a house by the owner, Major Blunt of Cley, and is at present tenanted by Admiral Sir William Jameson who, since retiring from the Royal Navy, has written several books about the sea

1952: One of the last London trams in Westminster Bridge Road. * 29/05/02 Trams are to return to central London for the first time in 50 years in a 500 million package aimed at cutting congestion, it was announced. London Mayor Ken Livingstone has given the go-ahead for a 300 million northsouth Cross River link and a 200 million tramway through west London. The West London tram, due to be completed by 2009, is set to run from Uxbridge to Shepherds Bush via Acton, Ealing, Hanwell and Southall town centres. The Cross River tram, earmarked for completion by 2011, will link Camden and Kings Cross, via Euston and Waterloo, to Peckham and Brixton in the south
