Motor Cycling - Senior Championship - Crystal Palace
An expert and admiring group of French motorcyclists, from the Garde Republicaine de Paris, gathers around world motor cycling champion John Surtees and his machine at the motorcycling race meeting at Crystal Palace.The Frenchmen, who are taking part in the White City Searchlight Tattoo, are the motorcycle escort for the French President and distinguished visitors to Paris.

London Tram : 1952
1952: One of the last London trams in Westminster Bridge Road. * 29/05/02 Trams are to return to central London for the first time in 50 years in a 500 million package aimed at cutting congestion, it was announced. London Mayor Ken Livingstone has given the go-ahead for a 300 million northsouth Cross River link and a 200 million tramway through west London. The West London tram, due to be completed by 2009, is set to run from Uxbridge to Shepherds Bush via Acton, Ealing, Hanwell and Southall town centres. The Cross River tram, earmarked for completion by 2011, will link Camden and Kings Cross, via Euston and Waterloo, to Peckham and Brixton in the south.

Korean War - Troopship Asturias - Southampton
Centre of a family circle at Southampton is Corporal David Menzies, Royal Sussex Regiment, of Brighton, who arrived home in the Troopship Asturias after serving overseas for 14 months with his battalion of the Royal Sussex, the last British battalion to leave Korea. Greeting him are his mother (on left), his father, his sisters Irene 14 and Wendy 11, his brother John, aged 9, and (holding his arm on right) his girlfriend, Sybil Rogers. David and Sybil are about to become engaged.
