Military - Royal Navy Last Rum Rations - HMS Belfast, Portsmouth
On HMS Belfast, last of the big gun cruisers and now an accommodation ship in reserve in Portsmouth Harbour, the last rum issue was poured into this year's Christmas Pudding mixture and here Commander W. B. Smith of HMS Bellerophon, performed the stirring ceremony as the rum was poured by Junior Steward Steven John Lewis, 16 of Harlow. Five year old Kevin, son of Supply Officer B. Smith of Drayton, put in the sixpence.

Some hundred turkeys and 250 Christmas puddings are aboard the troopship HMT Dunera, stationed at Southampton, ready for a Christmas at sea (off Malta) with the 1st Battalion the Royal Hampshire Regiment, who have gone aboard ready to sail for a tour of duty of Malaysia.
