Comedians Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise in the Hammersmith grounds of Euston Films today, where they teamed up with tough crimebusters Carter and Regan of "The Sweeney" Fame. Inspector Regan, actor John Thaw (left) and Det Sgt Carter, actor Dennis Waterman appeared as gusts on a Morecambe and Wise Christmas show in 1976. They joked they would only appear if Eric and Ernie agreed to appear in their show, and now the quartet will play in The Sweeney: "Hearts and Minds" an episode of the next series on ITV.

Entertainment - Radio - The Archers - Bagnor - 1985

Members of the cast of Britain's longest running radio serial, "The Archers", which is to be brought to the stage for the first time, in the village of Bagnor near Newbury, Berkshire. The drama, "The Archers Live in Ambridge", will run from June 18th to July 13th. Among the cast are (left to right) regulars Charles Collingwood (who plays Brian Aldridge), Patricia Greene (Jill Archer), Norman Painting (Phil Archer), and Alison Dowling (Elizabeth Archer) as well as Norman Jones (Jack Woolley) and David Parfitt (Nigel Pargetter) who are not in the radio show but have been brought in to replace the actors who have other engagements. Norman Painting is celebrating his 35th anniversary as an "Archer".

Footballer Mike Summerbee is surrounded by the Tiller Girls at the Stables Theatre Club in Manchester. Members of the Manchester City team took a break from training to attend the pre-opening celebrations of the club, home of the newly-formed Manchester Drama Club. The Stables Theatre project has been set up by Granada Television and it is the first time a permanent company has been formed to work in theatre and TV together.
