Copper the Cocker Spaniel joins Cancer & Biodetection Dogs charity
Copper a nine week old Cocker Spaniel during a photocall where the spaniel was handed over to the charity, Cancer & Biodetection Dogs by Strathclyde Police at the Scottish Police Dog Training Centre, Pollock Country Park.

Harvest mouse Tim tennis balls
'Tim' the harvest mouse in Bristol, finding a new home in one of Wimbledon's discarded tennis balls, which were donated to the the Wildlife Trust in Avon, Glamorgan and Northumberland by the All England Lawn Tennis Club. * The balls will be used in an attempt to aid the survival of micromys minutus, Britain's smallest mammal which weighs the same as a twenty pence piece. The tiny rodent builds its nest above ground away from predators on long stalks of grass in areas of dense vegetation and reedbed, but suitable area have been in decline recently due to intensive farming methods. The conservation programme will provide artificial homes in Avon, Glamorgan and Northumberland and started on the 21st June.

Animals - Spitfire the Polar Bear - London Airport - 1956
Spitfire, the polar bear cub enjoys a drink of water by Norah Standerwick, a receptionist at London Airport, before commencing the next stage of her journey. Spitfire, born at Nuremberg Zoo, was flown into London Airport from Frankfurt. The first baby polar bear in Britain since the birth of Brumas at London Zoo, weighs 60 pounds, she is going to Whipsnade Zoo children's corner.
