Thousands of people singing 'Auld Lang Syne' as their battle song, swept military and civilian police off their feet as they tried to gate crash their way into Rainbow Corner, the American Red Cross Club in Shaftesbury Avenue, as it closed down.

Long-Legged Man Goes For a Ride - London
Polish man Henry Lewandowski, a member of Bertram Mills Circus, has learned how to ride a bike whilst on stilts. Now he does 15 miles a day and plans to ride from London-Brighton. Here he is seen at the Houses of Parliament alongside cars and a tram on his seven foot high bike as he begins his trip. The bike is 9 1/2 feet long, has handlebars which are 7 ft from the ground and his stilts are 4 1/2 ft long.
