Entertainment - 'The Kathy Kirby Show' - BBC Television Theatre, London

Camera crews working on 'The Kathy Kirby Show' at the BBC Television Theatre, Shepherds Bush London, paid a surprise tribute to Kathy Kirby as the programme was televised live. On behalf of the team, senior cameraman Stan Appel, 31 of Ilford, who had left his seat on Camera 1, is seen presenting her with a golden statuette of a winged female figure on a marble base. It is inscribed 'our thanks to Kathy from Crew Thirteen. BBC TV 1964/5'. On the left is American comedian Stubby Kaye, who told viewers 'Kathy has no idea of what is to happen next. Since this is the last show in the present series and the crew in this theatre think so much of you, Kathy, as a person and a professional entertainer and artist, they would like to show their appreciation'. Mr Appel wished Miss Kirby luck on trip to Naples where she is to sing 'I Belong' as Great Britain's Eurovision Song Contest entry.
