Entertainment - Road Safety - Green Cross Code Song - London
Comedian Tommy Cooper and constable Edward McLernon, of Manchester and Salford Police, are supported by a "backing group" of pupils from Rackhouse Junior School, Wythenshawe, Manchester, as they sing the "Green Cross Code" song, with words by PC McLernon and song to a traditional folk melody. The song has been recorded by singer Partridge Green and copies of the record and the sheet music are to be supplied to all schools in Manchester and Salford for use in teaching the Green Cross Code, launched last April to train young children to cross the road in safety.

A new role for "Carry On" film actress, Hattie Jacques, is that of real-life auctioneer. She is seen as today's Churchill Hotel first anniversary gala launch of ACE, the British Travel Industry's new conference association * auctioning their birthday cake. The auction aids the British Leukemia Fund of which Miss Jacques is London President. 6/10/1980: Hattie Jacques died at the age of 56. She died at her home in earls Court, london, said her agent Felix de Wolfe. "I think it was a heart attack. It was very sudden", he said.
Entertainment - Ken Dodd and Bluebell Girls Photocall - London
Ken Dodd the comedian from Liverpool's Knotty Ash, has been booked by the BBC to star in a weekly series of summer shows to be televised live on sunday from Blackpool, starring in July. The shows will feature the famous Bluebell Girls dancing troupe, appearing in their first series on British television. Ken Dodd is seen trying out some dance steps at Broadcasting House, London with Madame Bluebell who comes from Liverpool, and two of the Bluebell Girls, Monique Swarz 23, of Paris (left), and Gillian Elvins, 21, of Grove Park, London.
