Peace Convoy spokesman Sid Rawles, showing head injuries, pictured at Savernake Forest where he was amongst the 100 folk who camped on the site after being offered temporary sanctuary on the Earl of Cardigan's family land. More than 500 people, members of the so called 'Peace Convoy' had been held at police stations across the south of England following violent clashes and pitched-battles between police and the 'Peace Convoy' which was trying to get to Stonehenge to hold an illegal pop festival.

Singing Postman & Secombe
Allan Smethurst (right), The Singing Postman, asks for, and Harry Secombe obliges by supplying a light as the two singing comedians joked together at the Variety Club. * 23/12/2000: Allan Smethurst, The Singing Postman who died aged 73. He had a number of hits in the Sixties including I Miss My Miss from Diss, but his biggest hit was Hev Yew Gotta Loight Boy which won him and Ivor Novellow award in 1966. Mr Smethurst broke his hip in a fall three months ago and his health deteriorated it was reported.
