Women's Land Army trainees set out to give a hand at turning hay in preparation for stacking. Obviously happy in their work, Periods of rain in the West Country have delayed much of the work but these girls will soon make amends for that.

The 'Bournemouth Belle' leaves Waterloo Station on its first post-war run after British Railways introduced more and faster trains with the inauguration of their Winter timetables. There will be a civic reception in Bournemouth to mark the Belle's arrival.
