Marie Lloyd Rides Again
The Queen of the Music Hall, Marie Lloyd, in the shape of actress Barbara Windsor, rode through London's West End. Barbara portrays "Our Marie", in the new Ned Sherrin/Caryl Brahma musical, "Sing a Rude Song", based on Marie's life, and here she is helped down from an 1880 hanson cab by her co-star, Maurice Gibb, who plays the part of Marie's jockey-husband, Bernard Dillon. the couple had just arrived at the Garrick Theatre, where the show, transferred from the Greenwich Theatre, opened on Tuesday. Marie Lloyd used to rush between engagements in the music halls by means of hansom cab.
Horse Racing - Julie Murless and Henry Cecil Wedding - St Mary's Church, Newmarket
Two of Britain's best-known racing families were linked today when Julie Murless, 24, and Henry Cecil, 23, were married at St Mary's Church, Newmarket. The bride is the daughter of trainer Noel Murless, of Warren Place, Newmarket, the bridegroom is the stepson of trainer Captain Cecil Boyd-Rochfort, of Freemason Lodge, Newmarket.
