Kenneth Tonkin, 11, looks at the Jules Rimet Cup, on display at the National Stamp Exhibition (Stampex) at the Central Hall, Westminster. He was chosen to open the exhibition after being named the youngest winner in the Stampex competition, and was also presented with a football signed by the entire Brazilian soccer team. The World Cup trophy is being kept under continuous guard throughout the exhibition

Soccer - World Cup Footballs - Horbury Bridge, Wakefield

Christine Rawson, 18, from Wakefield, Yorkshire, displays footballs manufactured for the World Cup at Slazenger's factory at Horbury Bridge. Slazenger's Challenge 25 Panel football has been selected for all matches in the 1966 World Cup and comes in three colours - orange for daylight, and white and yellow for floodlit games. Each football will be made from the finest cowhide processed in the company's own tannery in Yorkshire, and hand-stitched by experienced craftsmen. Christine, a short-hand typist at the factory, often appears in the BBC's Come Dancing
