Oliviers lead the protest marches

Stepping out in front of a banner are actor Sir Laurence Olivier and his actress wife Vivien Leigh. They are seen in St James Square as they headed a procession through the rain from the St James Theatre to the courtyard of St Martin in the Fields Church, Trafalgar Square, where there were to be speeches. The public march and meeting had been called by British Actors Equity to protest against the closing of the St James Theatre and to focus attention on the continued closing of theatres throughout Britain
