Military - Major-General Errol H G Lonsdale - London
Major-General Errol H G Lonsdale, the Army's Transport Officer in Chief, raises a tankard in the driver's seat of the Royal Corps of Transport's coach and four. He had just driven the coach through the streets from Regent's Park Barracks, Albany Street, to the Coach and Horses public house, Great Marlborough Street, which, at a ceremony today, was adopted by the Royal Army Service Corps and the Royal Corps of Transport Association. The adoption took place because the Association felt there should be a central rendezvous in London, where any of its 16, 000 members could be reasonably sure of meeting each other.
