King, 56, of Queensborough Studios, Bayswater, central London, was facing a lengthy jail sentence after being found guilty at the Old Bailey of six charges of sexual assault involving five boys aged between 14 and 15 between 1982 and 1987. The jury was told at a trial that King - a Cambridge-educated singer, producer and television personality, whose showbiz career spans 36 years - "exploited his celebrity" to lure the boys to his central London home, where he seduced them with sexy pictures of girls. But the trial could not be reported unitl 21/11/01 because King faced three other trials for similar offences. The second collapsed, and the court has now been told that the prosecution would not proceed with the other cases.
