Theatre - Elizabeth Taylor - Playhouse Theatre, Oxford

Actress Elizabeth Taylor slips in through the stage door of the Playhouse Theatre in Oxford, where she was appearing with husband Richard Burton in the Oxford University Dramatic Society production of Marlowe's Dr Faustus. She was playing the non-speaking role of Helen of Troy, who only appears in the second half. When the play ended last night, the cast took 15 curtain calls and enjoyed over nine minutes of applause.

World's Largest Cross-Channel Hovercraft - The 'Purserettes' - Dover

The 'Purserettes' who will look after passengers on the Mountbatten class SRN4, the world's largest hovercraft, which will make trips from Dover to Boulogne. It is the first cross-channel car and passenger hovercraft service and is operated by British Rail Hovercraft Limited (Seaspeed). Daytrippers will be able to have breakfast in Boulogne (arriving 0855) and spend over 10 hours in France (departing 1920) for only 3 return.
