Film - 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' - Sally Ann Howes - Pinewood Studios

Britain's newest film star was introduced to the world at Pinewood Studios, Iver, Buckinghamshire. She is a sleek, highly-polished, two-ton package of magical beauty named Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. She's the car that Dick Van Dyke drives in "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang", the biggest musical made in England, and in this picture even steals the limelight from Sally Ann Howes, who plays the role of Miss Truly Scrumptious. The film set in Edwardian England is based on Ian Fleming's stories about a magical car, which transforms into a flying machine and hovercraft whenever her zany inventor owner gets into trouble with the comic villains. Finished in brass, copper, aluminium and with a boat-shaped body in red and white cedar, the custom-built 100 m.p.h. star looks like rivalling Genevieve, who made her debut in a film of the same name with Kenneth More and the late Kay Kendall.

Film - 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' - South of France

British musical comedy film actress, SALLY ANN HOWES, stages a giant leg-pull on a seashore in the South of France. Despite the fact that co-star, Hollywood's DICK VAN DYKE writhes in agony, the feet and ankles protruding from what appears to be a sandy grave, don't belong to him. Dick and Sally Ann who are filming Albert R. Broccoli's Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, have a third person with them in this picture. He is eight-year old Ebglish schoolboy, Adrian Hall and owner of the feet, who plays Dick's screen son in this $3.5 million musical. The giant leg-pull instigated by Adrian whilst the three were taking a break from filming, caused so much mirth, that the gag has now been included in the film.

Film - 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' - Pinewood Studios

Six-year-old CARRIE BETH and her sister STANCEY, 13, steal the scene here from their brother BARRY, 16, and father DICK VAN DYKE, who watch as the girls go round the merry-go-round at Pinewood Studios. Three of the star's children thus got into one of the scene for his latest picture, Albert R.Brocolli's CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG. They came to watch father film a sequence at a colourful Edwardian fun fair set up specially. They were thrilled by the roundabout and director Ken Hughes said "You can ride on it all day if you go to the wardrobe department and get into costume". So the family got their ride and got into one of the scenes for the $3.5million musical.
