The Forth Road Bridge is set to celebrate its 40th anniversary later this year, although a 3.5 million resurfacing project on the bridge is proving to be a less than happy occasion for weekend commuters stuck in lengthy tailbacks. Work which began on the project on April 16 will see the south-bound carriageway closed every weekend until June with the Forth Estuary Transport Authority donating 10, 000 to local communities to come up with an idea to celebrate the anniversary to thank them for their patience
Entertainment - Radio - The Archers - Bagnor - 1985
Members of the cast of Britain's longest running radio serial, "The Archers", which is to be brought to the stage for the first time, in the village of Bagnor near Newbury, Berkshire. The drama, "The Archers Live in Ambridge", will run from June 18th to July 13th. Among the cast are (left to right) regulars Charles Collingwood (who plays Brian Aldridge), Patricia Greene (Jill Archer), Norman Painting (Phil Archer), and Alison Dowling (Elizabeth Archer) as well as Norman Jones (Jack Woolley) and David Parfitt (Nigel Pargetter) who are not in the radio show but have been brought in to replace the actors who have other engagements. Norman Painting is celebrating his 35th anniversary as an "Archer"
