Cattle return to the rich pastures of King's College, Cambridge, for the first time since foot and mouth swept Britain 18 months ago. The cattle on Scholars Piece - pasture owned by King's College - had been a part of the Cambridge landscape for decades. * and were a rare example of city livestock. King's College said the cows were back in their traditional home for a few days to act as extras in scenes for a film being made about the life of poet, and former Cambridge University student, Ted Hughes and his wife Sylvia Plath. *09/12/04: Cambridge is the best university in the world for science, according to new international rankings released. Old rivals Oxford came second, with both UK institutions beating wealthier US Ivy League universities in the Times Higher Education Supplement league table. The paper also reported that Cambridge had been given nearly 1 million to set up an endowment fund to honour renowned scientist Professor Stephen Hawking
