Thousands of people singing 'Auld Lang Syne' as their battle song, swept military and civilian police off their feet as they tried to gate crash their way into Rainbow Corner, the American Red Cross Club in Shaftesbury Avenue, as it closed down.

UK Entertainment - Dance - Ballet - Anton Dolin - London - 1949
Ballet dancer Anton Dolin, flexing his muscles on the terrace of his London home, after flying back from Cannes, where he was beaten up and robbed. The beating up was received at the hands of a notorious Riviera bandit whom the French police had been hunting for two years. Dolin was able to identify him, leading to his arrest.
