Transport - Flying Scotsman - King's Cross, London
The Flying Scotsman locomotive leaves King's Cross Station in London on her final run to Doncaster. On the footplate was Alan Pegler, a 42-year-old Nottinghamshire businessman, who has bought the steam engine for preservation. Because of the diesel programme, she has become redundant and British Railways had not intended to preserve one of her class. Mr Pegler will stable the locomotive privately at the Doncaster works where it was built.
