Mountaineering - Chris Bonington

Bearded Chris Bonington, who is to lead an expedition to climb the South face of the Himalayan Annapura, one of the most formidable mountain walls in the world with 12, 000 feet of steep ice and rock to the 26, 545 foot summit, is pictured at his home. Chris wears the inner jacket of Borg Fur specially designed for the members of the expedition. The eleven man expedition will also try out a completely new line in food, going in for tastiness rather than just pure nutrition. They hope to commence their climb by the beginning of April, 1970. This will give them eight weeks to complete the ascent before the arrival of the monsoon around the end of May
