Entertainment - Fruit Machines Destroyed - New Scotland Yard, London
An engineer uses a sledge to destroy fruit machines ('one-armed bandits') and pin tables under the supervision of Inspector George Strachan at New Scotland Yard, London. Later on, they were burned. The machines were the first of 150 ordered to be destroyed after being seized by police in the last four months. Some of these machines were on show last week when the Metropolitan Police Commissioner explained the law relating to gaming machines, which comes into force on January 1st, 1961.
